Check the sponsor and family category
UAE government guidance states the usual employed-sponsor income test as AED4,000 monthly, or AED3,000 with accommodation. Category-specific provisions may differ. Meet the applicable test with evidence, rather than relying on job title alone.
Spouses, children and parents do not all follow the same requirements. Identify each relationship, age, dependency and marital status; flag stepchildren, custody arrangements or consent issues at the start.
Prepare relationship and practical evidence
Prepare passports, photographs, current residence records and the relevant civil-status documents. Confirm whether attestation, translation, consent or dependency evidence is required for the chosen category and place of issue.
Adult applicants normally need the relevant medical-fitness step. Evidence of suitable accommodation and the sponsor’s qualifying position should be checked against the correct Dubai service, not a checklist for a different category.
Coordinate status, renewals and changes
A family application has its own decision and dates. Keep a record for every person, including current permission, application stage, expiry and outstanding evidence. A sponsor’s approved residence is not automatic approval for the whole family.
GDRFA describes renewal under the original applicable conditions, with updated documentation. If the sponsor’s permission is expiring or being cancelled, review the family position promptly. Any permitted period after expiry or cancellation must be checked for the actual category.
Make the move manageable
Tell us who will travel, where everyone is now and whether anyone has a newborn, school deadline or existing immigration problem. Resolve urgent status questions before arranging travel.
Ask for a separate document and cost plan for each person. Government, medical, identity, insurance, attestation and professional costs may arise at different stages. Confirm the agreed assistance and any local specialist involvement before instruction.

Can I sponsor my parents on the same terms as my children?
Do not assume so. Parents can involve separate dependency, accommodation and category requirements; assess that part of the move specifically.
Will everyone receive the same period of residence?
The sponsor’s category and each family member’s application matter. Check each decision and expiry date rather than assuming they match.
